What OhmDesk does
It runs an electrical shop from the first quote to the final invoice: quotes, jobs and work orders, the dispatch board, the crew's hours, invoicing and month-end to Sage 50. The office works on the web or the phone; the crew works from the phone app.
Their day: each visit with the site address, gate codes and tasks. They clock in from the truck, stamped with where they were, even with no signal. Safety forms are signed on the phone and photos go straight into the job. No dollar amount ever shows on the crew's phone. iPhone today; Android is coming.
Yes. The same app has an office side: build a quote and email it to the customer, create jobs, work orders and customers, book the crew on the board, raise and approve invoices, record payments and approve the week's hours. Month-end to Sage 50 stays on the web.
Yes, for Windows. It is the office's same screens in a program of its own, with its icon in the taskbar. It signs in with the same account and updates itself. Download it at ohmdesk.com/download. On a Mac, the office runs in the browser.
The quote goes out as a PDF with a link. The customer opens it on their phone, types their name, ticks the box and presses Accept or Decline. No account needed. An accepted quote becomes the job.
Upload the drawing set as a PDF, up to 40 pages. It reads the legend, counts each symbol on every plan sheet, reads each sheet twice, and marks what it isn't sure of for you to check. You confirm the counts, and they go onto the quote as items from your price list. It doesn't do conduit runs, wire lengths or home runs.
Four ways, to suit the job. Service calls and T&M bill the crew's hours and the parts they used. Quoted work bills at the accepted price, less any deposit. A quoted job can be billed a percentage at a time. Projects draw against a schedule of values, with the 10% holdback withheld and released on its own invoice.
Yes. At month-end, invoices, taxes and payments go to Sage 50 as a general journal your bookkeeper imports. Nothing gets typed twice.
The crew's clock-ins become the timesheet. The office approves each week, and your overtime rules do the math: weekly thresholds like time and a half over 44 hours, after-hours and call-out rates, on-call premiums and banked hours.
Each person gets a role: office, project manager, foreman, technician or accountant, and each sees their part. The crew never sees money. The parts your shop doesn't use can be switched off.
Pricing and the trial
One active person. Anyone with an office role takes an office seat; the crew take field seats; the accountant is free. Deactivate someone and their seat comes off the next bill.
Yes. Seat changes are prorated on the next invoice: add someone for the busy season, deactivate them after, and you pay for the time they had.
After 14 days you add a card to keep going. If you don't, access pauses and your data stays put; subscribe later and pick up where you left off.
Prices are in Canadian dollars. GST/HST is added at checkout from your billing address.
